The former Hearts of Oak CEO insist although the Ghana Football Association (GFA) might have drawn up a succession plan for a new Ghana U17 coach, it will be of the best interest to re-appoint Laryea Kingston as Black Starlets coach.

Kickgh.com can report that the FA are yet to draw up a definitive shortlist of candidates after the resignation of Kingston last month — although the former Ghana international has admirers at the FA.

Kingston shockingly announced his resignation as the Black Starlets finished third in the WAFU U-17 Championship hosted in Accra, failing to secure a spot in next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Zakour, however, believes that re-appointing Laryea will do the FA a lot of good as they won’t be left scrambling for a good coach with great understanding of the game.

“I urge the leadership of the GFA to reappoint Laryea Kingston as head coach,” Zakour said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

“Laryea should have shown patience despite the setback because we all saw the positive impact he was making. I am confident that if reappointed, he will perform well. He is my protégé, and I know his capabilities,” he added.
