Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has praised his players for their performance despite the defeat against Basake Holy Stars but still feels they should have done better with the chances that fell on their path.

The Porcupine Warriors were handed their first defeat of the season after a 2-1 loss away against the Western-based club in an outstanding match-day 3 fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

After a goalless draw, Richmond Somiah opened the scoring account in the 48th minute. Kwame Opoku equalized four minutes later while Prince Tweneboah scored at the death.

In a post-match interview, the experienced gaffer stated it wasn’t really a bad game even though they lost and added they will work on their conversation rate before their next game

“Kotoko should have won this game. Seriously, we should have won this game. Once again, we squandered the chances, and they took their chances, so to me we shouldn’t have lost this game, but it’s part of the game, so it’s okay,” Karim Zito said after the match.

“Everybody wants to beat Kotoko. We didn’t play badly. We played good football, but putting the ball in the back of the net was once again the problem.

“This is football, we are playing at home on Sunday, the team that leads the table leads us by three points. So we are still chasing.”

Asante Kotoko after defeat are currently in fourth spot with 20 points and will host Medeama SC in the next round of matches this weekend.
