Argentina overcame Poland 2-0 with goals from midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and Julián Álvarez to buckle their way into the World Cup knockout stage on goal difference ahead of Mexico on Wednesday night.
The Albiceleste dominated proceedings and grabbed the opener right after recess (46th minute) as Alexis Mac Allister ballooned the ball into the left post of the net after connecting to a pass from Nahuel Molina to score his first Argentina goal.
Julián Álvarez scored the second goal in the 67th minute as he slammed the ball past helpless Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Poland, who knew the weight of Argentina was on the back of Lionel Messi - who is their main creative engine forced Wojciech Szczesny to save his contentious penalty to clinched a win which means they will clash with Australia instead.
Argentina's second win in three games put them top of Group C on six points and heading into the last 16. Poland, second on four points, as qualification was in limbo until the end.
