Liverpool compete for their fourth Uefa Cup/ Uefa Europa League trophy in this season. It has been a long while since the English based side competed in this tier but they placed in the Europa League zone and will have to do the formalities.
Liverpool faced Union St. Gilloise of Belgium, LASK of Austria and Toulouse of France in their group stage matches. Liverpool have won four out of their five matches played with Toulouse been the only club to defeat them in the competition. Liverpool's victory sealed their qualification and the top of their group spot. Liverpool have 16 goals scored whilst conceding 5 in return with 3 clean sheets so far in the campaign for their fourth title in this division.
Liverpool won the Uefa Cup/ Uefa Europa League in 1973, 1976 and 2001.
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp sees this as an opportunity to get another trophy into Liverpool's decorated trophy cabinet. He shared his thoughts on how he will approach the competition. He said "we have to make surethat this is an European night and that is what I expect us to do; a proper European night atAnfield, really going for it. I will lineup a team with fresh legs who want to go for itenjoy the game and really fight for everymoment".
Jürgen Klopp did that as he placed players like Gapko, Salah, Diaz,Tsimikas, Gravenberh and Kelleher onto the field. Even after winning the game comfortably, he brought Trent on to finally seal qualification and top spot for the Reds at home. Liverpool are through and the quest for the fourth Uefa Cup/Uefa Europa League continuous.
