In the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final, Young Africans will face USM Alger at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Sunday.
The match will kick off at 13:00 pm GMT.
Young Africans secured their spot in the final by defeating South African team Marumo Gallants 4-1 on aggregate in the semifinals.
Currently, Yanga is on an impressive nine-match unbeaten run in the Confederation Cup, with two draws and seven victories, including their two recent consecutive wins.
"We are extremely delighted to have reached the final," said Nasreddine Nabbi, the head coach of Young Africans. "This is a significant achievement for us as we are the first Tanzanian team to make it this far. Now, our focus is on winning the Cup. We recognized that Marumo is a strong team, so we aimed to restrict their opportunities and implement a solid tactical plan for the game. Additionally, we were determined not to concede any goals in the first 25-30 minutes."
On the other hand, Alger progressed to the final by defeating Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas 2-0 on aggregate in the semifinals.
Alger's victory in the second leg of the semifinals ended their two-match winless streak in Africa's secondary club tournament, where they had previously suffered a defeat and a draw.
"We are extremely pleased and proud of our victory and our place in the final," stated Abdelhak Benchikha, the head coach of Alger. "It was not an easy match since we faced a strong opponent. Scoring the first goal was crucial for us, although the second half proved to be challenging. I am delighted for the club, the supporters, and the Algerian people who provided us with encouragement and support. Now, we will focus on preparing for the final, studying our opponents carefully. They are a formidable team, and we will give our all to win for the Algerian people."
This will be the third encounter between Young Africans and USM Alger in the Confederation Cup since 2018. Alger dominated the first meeting with a 4-0 victory in Algiers in May 2018, but Young Africans turned the tables with a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture in Dar-es-Salaam in August 2018.
The first-leg encounter of the final will be officiated by referee Jean Jacques Ndala Ngambo from DR Congo.
