Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwesi Appiah has confirmed in a latest interview that, it is true Tanzanian giants Simba SC have approached but no agreement has been reached yet.
The last time the 62 year old actively held a coaching role was from the period of 2017-2020 during his second spell with the Black Stars and has since then been unattached.
He was just recently named the Technical Director for second division side Kenpong Academy and was part of the list of coaches to have applied for the Black Stars job- which has finally been given to Chris Hughton.
In an interview with Oyerepa FM in Kumasi, the experience tactician admitted there has been a poached from the Tanzanian heavyweights and added the negotiation is almost 70% completed and is hoping to finalize everything very soon.
“We are still talking and we are in advanced negotiations. It’s about 70% now. Hopefully, we conclude everything soon."
This won't the first time the ex- Black Stars captain is handling a team outside Ghana, having worked in Sudan previously where he spent three years with topflight side Al Khartoum from 2014-2017.
He spent two years in his first coming with the Black Stars where he qualified the team to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil- making him the first home-based coach to achieve that.
