President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been appointed as the new President of the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Inter-Club Competitions Committee, the governing body have confirmed.

Okraku, who also serves as CAF’s 2nd Vice President, will now oversee one of the most influential committees within African football, responsible for the administration and development of key continental tournaments including the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

His appointment is seen as a vote of confidence in Ghanaian football leadership, following recent efforts by the GFA to restructure domestic competitions and strengthen club licensing systems.

Okraku’s elevation adds to his growing profile within African football governance, having previously served on CAF’s Executive Committee and played a role in reform initiatives under CAF President Patrice Motsepe’s administration.

The Inter-Club Competitions Committee plays a central role in shaping tournament formats, improving club infrastructure, and ensuring regulatory compliance across Africa’s top-tier football clubs.
