Ghanaian midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus have been shortlisted for the 2025 African Golden Awards in the Best Footballer of the Year category.
The duo will compete against some of Africa’s finest, including Senegalese star Sadio Mané, Egyptian and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, Kenyan striker Michael Olunga, and UEFA Europa League winner Ademola Lookman, who was recently crowned Africa’s Best Player.
Also nominated are Percy Tau (South Africa), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal), Eric Bailly (Ivory Coast), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), and Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana (Cameroon).
Other nominees include Ivory Coast’s Franck Kessié, Young Africans (Yanga SC) playmaker Stephane Aziz, and Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.
According to a statement on www.africagoldenawards.co, voting began on Sunday, March 9, and will continue until Monday, April 21.
Partey and Kudus’ nominations come shortly after their standout performances for Ghana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where Partey scored twice in a 3-0 win over Madagascar, while Kudus also found the net. Both players played key roles in Ghana’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad.
