Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has been appointed as the new head coach of the Sudan national football team.
He signed a three-year contract while in Saudi Arabia, where the Sudanese Football Association is currently operating due to instability in Sudan.
Appiah will work to revive football in Sudan and will be supported by Ignatius Osei Fosu as assistant coach and Fatau Dauda as goalkeeper's trainer.
His initial focus is preparing the team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Togo and DR Congo.
Despite his new role, Appiah will continue overseeing activities at Asante Kotoko, where he serves as technical director. He recently secured a seat on the Ghana Football Association's Executive Committee.
Appiah is known for leading Ghana to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He is expected to earn a monthly salary of $50,000 as Sudan's head coach.
