The World football governing body is set to investigate the summer recruitment of Ghana international Ernest Nuamah to Olympique Lyon, according to French tabloid L’Équipe.
Nuamah joined the French Ligue 1 outfit on a season-long loan deal with an obligation to purchase from Belgian Jupilier Pro League side RWD Molenbeek.
Per the announcement from FC Nordsjaelland, the 19-year-old winger was sold to the Belgian Jupilier Pro League newcomers RWD Molenbeek for a transfer fee of €25 million.
Should the option to buy be activated by Olympique Lyon, the Belgian club will receive the total fee of €25 million from the French club.
The multi-ownership model at Eagle Football which sees RWD Molenbeek as a sister club to Olympique Lyon has seen Nuamah’s move come under some suspicion from rival fans and pundits alike.
Despite FIFA approving the 19-year-old’s move to Molenbeek and Lyon gaining upstream approval from the DNCG following the financial restrictions placed on the club, internal sources at FIFA are claiming that the transfer will be investigated.
Nuamah is yet to register his name on the score sheet for Olympique Lyon since his arrival at the club.
He had an incredible stay at FC Nordsjaelland before joining the French Ligue 1 giants in the recently ended summer transfer window.
In Ghana's final game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Central African Republic (CAR), Nuamah displayed a five-star performance and scored a goal.
