Former Manchester City youth player Kwaku Oduroh has retired from football aged 22, with reasons being unknown.



The 22-year-old took to social media to announce he has decided to hang up his boots in a bid to prioritise other career paths.



The youngster shared his retirement news on Instagram in a heartbreaking post, which read: "To everything there is a season, this day marks the end of one and the beginning of another.



"This good thing has come to an end, I bid the game farewell with my head held high, grateful for the bonds that were built and for the experiences that many could only dream of, I take with me priceless lessons of old into a new future.



"I see this new thing the Lord is doing and so I can speak with peace and joy as I embrace my purpose beyond the pitch ready to embark on this new journey."



Oduroh added: "Here is to a new beginning, a new day and a new dawn."



The English-born Ghanaian defender began his career at Manchester City, leaving the club in the summer of 2022 (after 14 years) and undergoing a trial at Derby County.



He signed a two-year contract with Derby in July 2022. However, on 1st March 2024, Oduroh signed for National League club Hartlepool United on loan for the rest of the 2023–24 season. He made two appearances for the club
