Ghanaian-born Italian forward Kelvin Yeboah capped off an impressive debut Major League Soccer (MLS) season by scoring twice for Minnesota United, though his team fell to a crushing 6-2 defeat against LA Galaxy in the Western Conference semi-finals on Sunday evening.

Yeboah, who joined Minnesota in July 2024, had a remarkable impact, scoring seven goals in just nine regular-season appearances to help his team secure a playoff spot. However, their postseason journey ended at Dignity Health Sports Park against the five-time MLS champions.

The semi-final got off to a blistering start when Gabriel Pec opened the scoring for LA Galaxy in the first minute. Yeboah, determined to keep Minnesota in contention, responded with an equalizer just five minutes later.

The Galaxy regained the lead shortly after, as Dejan Joveljić nodded in a Marco Reus cross. Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil extended the hosts' advantage before Yeboah struck again, converting a penalty just before halftime to bring the score to 3-2.

Despite Yeboah’s valiant efforts, LA Galaxy dominated the second half, with Pec, Paintsil, and Joveljić adding to their tally to complete the emphatic victory.

Yeboah’s stellar debut season highlighted his immense potential, and his performances will undoubtedly give Minnesota fans hope for the future despite the disappointing end to their campaign.
