English-born Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo was a delight to watch when Manchester United inflicted a 3-0 painful home defeat on Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United deepen the woes of Everton with a humiliation in their first game since their 10-point deduction by the English Football Association.
Manchester United, without suspended manager Erik ten Hag on the touchline, had given a debut to impressive 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo and the midfielder made a superb clearance off the line to deny Dwight McNeil.
Alejandro Garnacho smashed in a sensational goal-of-the-season contender in the third minute to open the scoring for the visitors before Marcus Ransford doubled their lead after the break from the spot.
Everton were made to rue their numerous misses as Ashley Young was adjudged to have tripped Anthony Martial in the box and Marcus Rashford stepped up to confidently score the penalty.
Martial finished off a slick team move for United's third as they moved up to sixth in the Premier League, while Everton are in significant trouble at the bottom end, in 19th position and five points from safety.
Kobbie Mainoo lasted for 72 minutes of the game before he was replaced by Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat.
The English-born of Ghanaian descent is an emerging star from the Manchester United youth teams and was included in Erik Ten Hag's preseason squad ahead of the 2023/24 season.
However, the 18-year-old sustained injury during their pre-season scrimmages in the United States which ruled him out of action for several months.
Mainoo is eligible to play for Ghana despite representing England at the U17, U18 and U19 levels.
