Ghana defender Derrick Kohn says he is eagerly looking forward to the Black Stars’ high-profile international friendly against Germany in Stuttgart next March.

Kohn believes that the match is a special opportunity for him on both a personal and professional level.

The Union Berlin left-back, who made his Ghana debut at the Kirin Cup, has spent his entire life in Germany and is hoping to feature when the Black Stars meet the four-time world champions on March 30 as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Speaking to 3Sports, Kohn revealed just how much demand there is among friends and family hoping to attend the match.

“I can’t wait [for the friendly against Germany]. I was texting the team manager of the Black Stars, if I’m in the squad, please, I need 100 tickets. I need a lot of tickets,” he said.

The 26-year-old added that the game carries extra meaning given his roots and the support he expects in the stands.

“The whole of Germany is texting me like, please, if you can make it happen, we’re going to come. But I know when I’m there, for sure the German guys will come and I want to show them that Ghana is there.”

Kohn believes the encounter will serve as an important test for the Black Stars as they build cohesion ahead of the World Cup campaign.

“That’s why I’m so powerful that we try to beat Germany. This is also one of my dreams. But it’s going to be a good game. Let’s prepare well for the World Cup, have a good game, and then we will see what happens.”

Kohn has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2025/26 season with Union Berlin, making 15 appearances so far and establishing himself as a important cog in the Bundesliga side, form he hopes will strengthen his claim for a place in Ghana’s squad for the friendly and beyond.
