Sheriff Tiraspol midfielder Edmund Addo looks set to feature for the Moldovan club this season after his much-anticipated move to Serbian heavyweights Red Star Belgrade falls through, as 'there are no conditions' for the transfer to be confirmed.
News reaching our desk indicates that representatives of the two clubs met recently to try and whomp out a deal, but couldn't reach an agreement. However, It is believed that Red Star were ready to offer the 22-year-old Ghanaian international a four-year contract, while Sheriff Tiraspol are keen to include an obligation to buy out clause in the deal, something that Serbian giants appear unwilling to kowtow to.
Addo's representatives were pushing for the transfer to materialised on transfer deadline day in Serbia, which was on September 15, but talks hit a snag with the silky midfielder returning back to his club - Sheriff Tiraspol.
The former FK Senica cult hero has a running contract with Sheriff - which will elapse in 2024. Addo was phenomenal for the Yellow-Blacks last season, featuring in thirty-three games in all competitions and scoring one goal, having joined them from the Slovenian club in 2021.
Addo may have to make a decision about whether to stick it out at Sheriff or join a top European club who can guarantee him first-team football in the next transfer window. It is believed that Sheriff coach Stjepan Tomas is happy to receive the player back into the team.
