Ghana head coach, Otto Addo believes that Majeed Ashimeru has bad luck because everytime they call him he gets injured.

The former West African Football Academy midfielder has scored three, assisted one in five outings for Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

The 24-year-old was reportedly called-up for Ghana's African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Cape Verde but pulled out due to injury.

Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in group H of the World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana continues their pre-World Cup preparations against Nicaragua on Tuesday after the 3:0 defeat to the Selecão of Brazil last week.

Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams and Mohammed Salisu all made their debuts for Ghana.

Otto Addo says Majeed Ashimeru has been unlucky with injuries but insists that they are monitoring him.

"Majeed Ashimeru, for him, it's more bad luck, let's put it like that, because every time he was called up, he was injured before Nigeria or in June," coach Addo said as quoted by Africa Football News.

"I must admit that those who played in the midfield had good matches, whether against Nigeria, Madagascar, even against Mozambique, or even Chile, they performed well. But it's clear he's on our radar and he's selectable.

"We're watching him and before the World Cup anything can happen, but he's been unlucky for the past six months with his injuries."

"So hope in any case that he will be spared from injury. and after that, who knows, he also has every chance of being part of the group that will play the 2022 World Cup. He is good at the moment, we are watching him," he concluded.
