The 21-year-old defender has completed his transfer switch to the Swedish third tier outfit from the elite division side in this winter transfer window
Ghanaian left-back Banabas Tagoe has joined Swedish Ettan Norra side IF Karlstad Fotboll from Championship heavyweights Malmo FF, the club have announced.
Following loan stints with lower division club BK Olympic, the promising defender has now been finally moved on a permanent basis to his current employers after failing to live up to his billings with his mother club in the top-flight.
A club statement reads: ''We welcome the second new signing of the season to Karlstad Fotboll. It is the 21-year-old defender Banabas Tagoe who joins from Malmö FF.
''Banabas joined "di himmelsblå" in the summer of 2023 and has been on loan to BK Olympic for two seasons. He has one appearance in the MFF on his track record. Now there will be a transfer to Karlstad Fotboll.
''In Olympic, Banabas had Paul Olausson as his coach, so in other words, it is a well-scouted player who comes to Karlstad Football.''
Sporting director Thomas Andersson said of the signing of the Ghanaian youngster to his club's official website: ''Very pleased that Banaba's transfer to us is now complete. He will add new dimensions to our game, not least thanks to his technique and speed. Then the fact that he has been in one of Sweden's best training environments, and has experience of playing in Div 1 is an extra bonus.''
Head coach Paul Olausson added: ''A wing-back with speed and a nice left foot. His dribbling ability and balance are on a level of their own when it comes to Division 1, I dare say that without using too many words. He had a difficult season that year with some injuries that ruined a lot, but now he has been healthy and should be completely ready for 2026.''
Banabas is the son of former Accra Hearts of Oak legend Joe Tagoe. He's yet to earn his international cap for Ghana at the senior men's national team, the Black Stars.
