Sheffield United is exploring the possibility of signing the experienced Ghanaian star, Andre Ayew, on a free transfer, according to information obtained by TEAMtalk.
The Blades returned to the Premier League following their promotion last season but have encountered difficulties in their top-flight return. After four matches, Paul Heckingbottom's team has managed to secure just one point, which came from a 2-2 draw against Everton in their most recent outing.
Despite their best efforts, Sheffield United appears to lack the necessary quality and experience required to thrive in the Premier League.
As a potential solution, Heckingbottom is contemplating the acquisition of Andre Ayew, a Ghanaian forward with 114 international caps, to inject some creativity and experience into the team.
Ayew, at the age of 33, is currently a free agent after departing Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of the previous season. He had joined the City Ground on a short-term contract after leaving Al Sadd in Qatar.
Although Ayew made 13 appearances during the latter part of the season, Steve Cooper, Nottingham Forest's manager, opted not to extend his contract, allowing the prolific forward with 152 career goals to become a free agent.
With Ayew eager to return to the game, his status as a free agent means he is not bound by transfer window restrictions, and clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey have expressed interest in him.
However, it has come to our attention that Sheffield United is contemplating offering the seasoned striker a short-term contract of their own, hoping that he can aid their quest for survival in the Premier League.
