The Danish side knocked back the advances of the Swedish top-flight side over the services of the potential Black Stars defender during the transfer deadline day in Sweden
Danish Superliga outfit Aarhus GF rejected a last minute bid from Swedish Allsvenskan side IK Sirius for Danish-born Ghanaian centre-back Jonas Jensen-Abbew ahead of the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday.
The promising defender, who joined AGF from fellow top division rivals FC Nordsjaelland on a five-year deal during the summer of 2024, has already hit the ground running at the Ceres Park in this ongoing campaign.
Given his remarkable debut season with the Aarhus-based club so far this term, the 22-year-old emerged as a target for the Swedish outfit as they tried to lure him ahead of the 2025-26 football season.
As per Danish outlet Tipsbladet, the Uppsala-based club were ready to offer an audacious bid for Jensen-Abbew given their determination to land him in beefing up their backline options with his acquisition, but saw their advances knocked back as his current employers were hell-bent to retain him beyond this summer.
Aside Sirius, La Liga side Leganes and Dutch Eredivisie campaigners Go Ahead Eagles also saw their bids over the signature of the 22-year-old rejected during the January transfer window.
He has so far been involved in 14 games for AGF across all competitions in this current campaign albeit his injury setbacks halfway the season.
Given his Ghanaian heritage, the young central defender still remains eligible to represent Ghana on the international stage despite playing for the Danish U21 national youth team.
