The defender of Ghanaian heritage has not been given a clean bill of health by the German side after he was medically screened over his transfer move this summer
Swiss-born Ghanaian centre-back Gregory Kwesi Wuthrich has failed his medical examination with Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg, his club have confirmed.
The 28-year-old stopper, who is currently on the books of Austrian Bundesliga side SK Sturm Graz, saw his transfer move to the Augsburg Arena outfit hit a rock after failing his mandatory medical asessment earlier today.
Sporting director Andreas Schicker confirmed the collapse of their deal with FC Augsburg over the services of the Ghanaian prospect on Thursday as being quoted by Laola1: "He (Gregory Kwesi Wuthrich) is on the way back to Graz. The transfer to the German Bundesliga will not take place due to problems with the medical check."
He added by urging the fans to stay positive over the future of their dependable centre-back as he will continue life with them in the ongoing league season following his bright start so far this term.
"The Sturm fans don't have to worry in the future either. We know that Gregory's dream was to play in a top European league, and we wouldn't have put any obstacles in his way because we wanted to make his dream possible. In the end it didn't work out. That's bitter for Gregy. But from a purely sporting perspective, we're happy that he's still with us in Graz."
The former BSC Young Boys guardsman has featured in 5 league games for SK Sturm Graz in the just started Austrian Bundesliga 23/24 campaign.
He remains eligible to switch allegiance and play for Ghana on the international stage albeit featuring for the Switzerland national youth teams.
