Former Black Stars midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has addressed his side demotion from the German Bundesliga after a 1-1 draw with VFL Bochum in match-week 33 on Saturday.
Boateng’s outfit has been relegated to the German Bundesliga II following their stalemate against Vfl Bochum on Saturday at the Olympiastadion Berlin.
The former Black Stars forward was in action when Hertha Berlin played a 1-1 draw against Bochum.
Boateng, who captained the team lasted 65 minute before he was replaced by Jean-Paul Boëtius.
"I can't realize it yet. It is just bitter; I love this club. I came here and I knew that not everything would be rosy. The fans are angry, disappointed and sad, that is completely normal,” Boateng told the press after the game.
“I can understand them; I am a Hertha fan myself."
Hertha Berlin opened the scoring through Lucas Tousart in the 63rd minute mark after connecting from Marco Richter pass.
But the visitors left it late to secure a point in Berlin after scoring in the 94th minute as the game ended 1-1.
The draw means Hertha Berlin are relegated from the Bundesliga with a game to spare and are expected to feature in the Bundesliga II next season.
Hertha Berlin have been in the German top-flight league for ten years.
Meanwhile, the former Black Stars forward will retire from professional football at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Boateng will transition into a coaching role as a member of the technical team at his current club, Hertha Berlin BSC.
