The former GFA second Commander-in-Chief has lauded the appointment of the former Real Madrid boss as he believes that he is the right man for the top job of the four-time African champions 

Ex-Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Pappoe has said that newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz appears well-suited for the Ghana national football team coaching role following his unveiling by the nation's football governing body on Thursday.

The well-respected football administrator, who once served as the Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, is more than convinced that the experienced Portuguese tactician is the right man for the vacant hot seat given his pedigree on the global stage. 

Pappoe mentioned that, the difficult situation the nation found itself in called for the appointment of such a high-profile manager in person of the former Egypt and lran gaffer as he has what it takes to succeed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking to SuperSport Blitz after the unveiling ceremony of the 73-year-old tactician, the former Ghana FA Presidential hopeful said: ''We are in a situation where we had to appoint a coach in less than three months before the start of the World Cup, but we are there.''

He added: "Men are meant to solve problems, so I believe Carlos Queiroz is the man for the situation we are in now. He is a mature person with a pedigree, someone who has confidence, realistic, who commands respect and above all, he is humble, and these are important things to me.He appears well-suited for the job and the situation we are in, so we all have to pray that he succeeds.''

The former Manchester United assistant boss will have his first test at the helm when the Black Stars comes up against Mexico and Wales in a Pre-World Cup friendlies on May 22, 2026 and June 2, 2026 respectively.

Ghana have been paired alongside England, Croatia and Panama in group L of the 2026 World Cup to be staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico in June this year.
