The Swedish top-flight campaigners are left paralyzed over the Ghanaian attacking winger's failed move to the French second-tier side on transfer deadline day
BK Hacken sporting director Martin Ericsson has expressed his utter dismay after seeing the transfer move of Ghanaian youngster Ibrahim Sadiq to French Ligue 2 side AS Saint-Étienne hit a snag during the just shuttered transfer window.
The Allsvenskan side agreed a deal worth €2m for their prized jewel, but the agreement fell through on transfer deadline day much to their disappointment, with the 22-year-old set to spend time in the Swedish top-flight contest ahead of the start of the 2023 football campaign.
According to multiple reports, the representatives of the talented winger demanded an increment of enticement fee from the French suitors and that led to the collapse of the deal at the eleventh hour.
"We are as surprised as everyone else. When we let a player go, we think it will be a deal," Martin Ericsson told Newspaper GP. "I cannot comment on details out of respect for the parties. We are surprised because we believed in a deal."
He added: "Keeping Sadiq's sporting skills is of course something very positive sportingly. Then we have to waive the financial part this time. It is always double. But somewhere it is decided on the pitch and we get to keep a skilled player."
Sadiq has been superb in the summit of Swedish football competition since making his move to the Gothenburg-based club from Danish elite side FC Nordsjaelland in February 2022.
Sadiq has contract with the Bravida Arena outfit will expire in December 2025.
