Medeama defender Kamaradini Mamudu made his debut for the Black Stars on Monday during Ghana's 2-1 defeat to Niger in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Mamudu, who replaced Terry Yegbe in the 79th minute, was brought on to strengthen the defense as Ghana aimed to salvage a result.
Despite the disappointing outcome, Mamudu's debut was a notable moment for the 22-year-old, who has earned recognition as one of the top defenders in the Ghana Premier League.
Although his time on the pitch was limited, Mamudu’s introduction symbolized an important step in his national team journey and personal development.
With Ghana’s AFCON qualifying campaign now concluded, Mamudu’s performance, along with those of fellow debutants Yegbe and Adjei, offered a glimpse of hope for the future. However, the defeat sealed Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, putting additional pressure on coach Otto Addo and the Ghana Football Association.
