The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a painful 2-1 loss to their West African neighbours Nigeria last Wednesday night at the Gtech Community Stadium in the ongoing Unity Cup tournament in Brentford, West London.

The game was one of two halves with both teams giving each other a good run for their money and also providing the perfect test that will them patch up all cracks in their squad

The Super Eagles made a very explosive start to the game and dominated in every aspect having gotten all their two goals in less than twenty minutes from kickoff courtesy Razak Simpson's own goal and the other from Rangers FC forward Cyriel Dessers

Coventry City FC winger Brandon Thomas came off the bench in the second half to pull one back for Ghana - who had some decent chances to get back on level terms but failed to make them count

In a post-match presser, coach Otto Addo admitted they were abysmal at the start of the game but bounced back stronger in the second half

The former Borussia Dortmund trainer further stated the Nigerians had a matured squad compared to his but still picked some positives from the game and hopes for more improvement going forward

“Like I said, it’s not always easy especially when we have players that haven’t often together. I think Nigeria had a more matured team who could adapt faster and we had problems getting into the duels to press well but also to defend well” Otto Addo said about his much changed team.

“The second half was really good I have to say. Though we lost, I’m happy about the second half, we saw some talents…we saw some players really be positive and I’m looking forward to see them again” Addo said.

Ghana will now play Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff, while Nigeria face off with Jamaica in the final - all on Saturday, May 31, at the same venue
