Aduana FC CEO Collins Atta Poku says Black Stars head coach Otto Addo deserves to lead Ghana to the 2026 World Cup because he earned the job by qualifying the team.
Atta Poku was reacting to the Ghana Football Association’s decision to strengthen the Black Stars technical team ahead of the tournament.
Five experienced professionals, including French coach Alain Ravera, Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, Spanish coach José Daniel Martínez Alfonso, physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, and British-born Ghanaian performance specialist Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, have all been added to support Otto Addo and his technical staff.
Speaking to Citi Sports on Monday, February 9, 2026, Atta Poku dismissed claims that Otto Addo should not remain in charge.
“He earned a slot by qualifying us, so it’s good that we are taking him,” he said.
“If he needs backup to excel, let’s provide all that he needs, so that the Black Stars can go and excel at the Mundial in the United States of America.”
He added that the new technical members will help improve the team ahead of the World Cup.
“I’m optimistic that these people will come in and help what we have to get better,” Atta Poku said.
“I was with Aminu Shadow and Alan Ravera, the assistant, and they are all working strongly to ensure that they get some gems to come and play for us during the World Cup.”
Ghana will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on Wednesday, June 17, in Toronto. They will then face England in Boston on June 23, before playing Croatia on June 27, 2026.
