Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu is very optimistic Ghana can make a huge mark in Cote D'Ivoire early next year with a squad that is full of quality and without injuries.

The 32-year-old played for the senior national team for almost a decade and featured in five different AFCON tournaments but couldn't win any, having come close to the title in 2010 and 2015.

The four-time African champions had to secure their spot at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations late after edging Central African Republic 2-1 in the last game of the qualifiers weeks ago.

Speaking on Radio Gold in Accra, the ex- Udinese Calcio midfielder says Ghana has lots of quality and if they are to secure all of them for the tournament without any injuries, he wouldn't be surprised to see the Black Stars end the country's over forty-year trophy abeyance.

"Now we have four months to go what do we need to do, the first option is the players should get playing time at their club sides."

“Because they will not get a lot of time to come and train or to know themselves very well, that is the first priority now and we pray that injuries will not affect us as we saw in the qualifiers."

“We are now building a team and so when you miss certain players at certain stages it means cohesion-wise, you will be having difficulties."

"You will only rely on individual brilliance so throughout the qualifiers, you could see that we were not playing that well but we were scoring with individual brilliance."

“So playing time, we hope that injury free and with the quality we have, if we support them, I think we can cause havoc in Ivory Coast," he concluded.
