The former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantekyi has stated he has no interest in re-entering the football arena.

Widespread rumours of having to draft Nyantekyi back to mainstream football administration were put to rest when he had an interview with Kessben FM.

According to him, the Number 12 documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas was actually an attempt to kill him.

“I'm not returning to football once my ban is over. What they did to me was an attempt to actually kill me. While I still have an interest in football, I will not consider returning to mainstream administration for the time being,” Kwesi Nyantakyi stated. .

Nyantakyi was the president of the Ghana Football Association from 2005 to 2018. He led Ghana to three FIFA World Cup and two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, with Ghana finishing second at the 2010 AFCON and the 2015 edition, under his leadership.

Nyantekyi was embroiled in a legal battle with his co-accused, former Northern Regional Chairman of the GFA, Abdulai Alhassan but were discharged by the High Court, which was presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Marie-Louise Simmonds following a prolonged legal process lasting over a period of five years.

Justice Simmonds withdrew the charges against them, following the prosecution’s failure to secure testimony from any of its five listed witnesses.

The situation exacerbated when the final witness Anas refused to testify unless allowed to wear a mask, a request considered abnormal by the court.
