Ghanaian champions Bibiani Gold Stars have confirmed Baba Yara Stadium will be their home grounds for the preliminary stage of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League
The facility in Kumasi is currently not in a good state and misses some of the CAF requirements but the National Sports Authority led by Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, have assured that it will be ready very soon to host top-tier matches
The Miners punched their ticket to make their first ever appearance at the continental showpiece after emerging as Ghana Premier League champions in the just-ended season and had to wait until the final day to win in what was a very difficult battle with Nations FC
Club CEO Kwasi Adu has already stated they are putting things in place from henceforth in terms of player recruitment and others as they look to establish a redoubtable side for the campaign
He has further confirmed that the Baba Yara Stadium will be the home venue for their Africa campaign. He told Kumasi-based Akoma FM in an interview;
“I am very confident that with the support of the National Sports Authority (NSA), led by Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and in collaboration with both Kotoko and Gold Stars, the necessary works can be completed in time for us to play our preliminary matches in Kumasi.
“At this point, Kumasi has not yet been approved by CAF, but only a few finishing touches are required. Once those are completed, we are hopeful that the stadium will be cleared to host the matches. If, however, the Baba Yara Stadium is not ready in time for the group stages, we will consider using the Accra Sports Stadium.
“For now, our target is to play the preliminary round matches at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.”
Bibiani Gold Stars will play in the CAF Champions League next season starting from the first preliminary round- with the first leg slated for the weekend September 19-21 while the second leg will happen from 26-28, 2025
