Despite recent losses to the USA and Mexico during the international break, the Ghana men's national team's position in the October 2023 FIFA World Rankings remains unchanged.
The rankings, disclosed on FIFA's official website on October 26, reveal that the Black Stars maintain their 60th place globally and retain their 11th position as the best-ranked team in Africa.
These rankings remain consistent with the positions held by Chris Hughton's team in the September rankings. In their recent international matches, Ghana faced challenging defeats, with a 2-0 loss to Mexico in the first of two friendlies on October 15, followed by a 4-0 defeat against the US three days later.
Looking ahead, Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton is focusing on regrouping and preparing for the upcoming November 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament scheduled for January.
Global FIFA ranking:
Despite 165 international matches being played earlier this month, there were no changes in the top three, with Argentina (1st) maintaining a substantial lead over their closest competitors, France. Meanwhile, France solidified their second place, widening the gap between themselves and Brazil (3rd).
Following a 1-1 draw at home against Venezuela and a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay, Brazil (A Seleção) now faces competition from England (4th). Belgium remains in the fifth position but has a resurgent Portugal (6th, up 2) closing in. Spain (8th, up 2) is in pursuit of the Netherlands (7th).
Subsequently, Italy (9th) and Croatia (10th, down 4) follow, with the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia runners-up maintaining their top-ten position despite recent setbacks.
