Former Ghana Football Association communications director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has urged the Ghanaian football governing body not to rush the process of appointing a new Black Stars head coach.

Daara's comments follow the dismissal of Otto Addo after Ghana’s back-to-back defeats to Austria and Germany in recent international friendlies.

Speaking on Citi News, Sannie Daara said the decision must be handled with care as the team goes through a period of transition.

He acknowledged the urgency to name a new coach ahead of upcoming matches but stressed the importance of long-term planning.

“While we are looking for a coach now, we must also think about the future. We have a very young squad with the potential to do well,” he said.

“Most of the players are in their early 20s, so we need a coach who will not only focus on the World Cup but can also stay long-term and stabilise the team for sustained success.”

The search for a new coach has already attracted wide interest. Kurt Okraku, president of the Ghana Football Association, says more than 600 coaches have applied for the role.

He added that a new appointment is expected within two weeks.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars are set to regroup in May for friendlies against Mexico on 22 May and Wales on 2 June as part of preparations for the World Cup.

Ghana, preparing for their fifth appearance at the tournament, have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

They will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since their historic 2010 campaign.
