Former Ghana assistant coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani says recent changes to the Black Stars technical team are a step forward, but believes more work is still needed.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has added several new members to the team’s backroom staff as part of efforts to strengthen preparations.

The new additions include French coach Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who joins from the Black Queens, both as assistant coaches.

Also brought in are Spanish analyst Jose Daniel Martinez Alfonso to support scouting and match analysis, physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, who worked with the team at the 2022 World Cup, and performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi.

Dramani, who now leads Accra Hearts of Oak, said he supports the decision but does not think it goes far enough.

“It’s the right decision, but still inadequate in my opinion. The World Cup presents an opportunity for learning and growth, so more hands are needed, both behind the scenes and on the bench. Our teams are often understaffed due to limited resources,” he told Graphic Sports.

He pointed to sports science and medical support as areas that need urgent improvement.

“Sports science is crucial to keep players refreshed, especially during matches. Some members of the technical team must also focus on scouting potential opponents across different groups and analyzing various aspects of the game,” he added.

The Black Stars are preparing for friendly matches against Austria and Germany, which form part of their build-up to the global showpiece. Ghana will face Austria on 27 March before travelling to Stuttgart to play Germany a few days later.
