Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has confirmed that the budget for the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 World Cup will be made public before the tournament begins.
The Black Stars are set to make their fifth appearance at the global showpiece, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico this year.
Adams, who previously disclosed the costs of each World Cup qualifier despite criticism from some football stakeholders, said the government will continue its policy of transparency for the World Cup preparations.
“We will make the World Cup budget public; nothing will be hidden,” the Buem constituency MP told Asempa FM.
“The government does not intend to profit; this is about giving Ghana what it deserves.”
He also explained that the number of supporters flown to cheer the team at the tournament will depend on funds raised through the Sports Fund.
“The funds we will raise will determine the number of fans we take to the World Cup,” Adams added.
Ghana, drawn in Group L, will start their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England in Boston, and finish the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
