While Black Stars have received attention recently for their set-piece woes, it is far to say the team have struggled with dead-ball situations as well, as they've progressively allowed easier chances in set-pieces.
This, has prompted veteran tactician JE Sarpong to add his voice as he thinks the Black Stars defensive woes were not created overnight and are as a result of poor planning and the players not communicating on the field of play.
Sarpong, was reacting to Ghana's 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic in Kumasi on Monday, as he expressed worry of the defense lack of a strict man-marking and zonal marking system which appeared to have had a negative impact on the team.
"The areas that are worrying us are the defensive setup. We seem to give away balls we don't have to. There is no perfect understanding between the central pair, and in football or sports, communication is very key. When you are playing football, you have to communicate a lot. So, Otto has to look at it," Sarpong told Peace FM.
"Also, our midfielders look like they are not working hard and putting themselves into games like we know them abroad. You mention Partey, you mention Kudus, if you mention Salis, they can't hold together the midfield. So, in the early stages of the first half, we don't know what to do, and when we meet a team who is potent in the first half, if they are able to score 3, then we are out. So, in these areas, we have to build that place up," he added.
After Monday's win, Otto Addo, has certainly earned great adoration from the fans, who have perhaps fully accepted him as the man to carry the team to wonderland.
