Henry Asante Twum, the Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, has advised fans to manage their expectations of the Black Stars despite their recent successes in the June 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Under the leadership of coach Otto Addo, Ghana clinched consecutive victories against Mali and Central African Republic in Bamako and Kumasi, respectively. These wins have propelled the Black Stars to second place in Group I, narrowly trailing Comoros based on goal difference. Addo’s return as head coach has shown promise, with two wins, one draw, and one loss in his first four matches.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Asante Twum commended the team’s strong start but warned against anticipating victory in every game.
"We have started on a very positive note, we pray for more but in the course of this journey, I don't want to believe that Ghana will win every game," said the Communications Director.
"There will be days where we will not play well and win, there will be days where we will play well and still not win”
“There will be disappointments [and] there will be lots of pain in the course of this journey, but in all of that, we believe in him, we believe in the typical competent of the entire backroom staff which is why we assembled them and we are looking ahead to our glory days."
Looking forward, Ghana will resume their World Cup qualifiers next year, squaring off against Chad and Madagascar in their upcoming fixtures. Fans are encouraged to support the team while being mindful of the unpredictable nature of football.
