Head coach of Ghana men U-20 national team, Desmond Ofei has admitted they faced so many challenges coming into the competition but is very excited with the AFCON qualification.
The Black Satellites lost by 2-1 to sworn rivals Nigeria last Wednesday night in the final of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship final after a stellar run from the group phase.
Having missed out on the title, Ghana has still qualified to the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations having missed out on the last edition after winning the previous two edition held in Mauritania.
Speaking in an interview, the enterprising tactician has lauded the performance of his players throughout the WAFU campaign and feels this is definitely one of the proudest moments of his coaching career.
"Qualifying for the U-20 AFCON is a huge achievement for us, especially considering the circumstances. This team faced many challenges, but their determination and commitment have been incredible. I'm proud of each and every one of them."
He further admitted losing most of his African Games winning squad affected him a bit but the new guys still managed to help them earn a spot in the next AFCON.
"Losing nine key players who were crucial to our success at the African Games was a significant blow. But this allowed us to build a new core of young talent, and these boys have stepped up tremendously. They deserve this qualification just as much as anyone else."
