Black Princesses attacker Mafia Nyame says she hopes to leave an impression at her second FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Colombia.

The AS FAR player, who was a member of the Black Princesses squad at the last World Cup in Costa Rica, is eager for more after appearing only once as a substitute.

The former Faith Ladies player is thrilled about the prospect of returning to the World Cup and making her mark.

“It is always an honour to be called to the national team to serve the nation wholeheartedly’’ Nyame told the Ghana FA official website.

“I represented Ghana at the 2022 edition but it didn’t go as planned and this is an opportunity to go and make history. Everyone in camp is doing well to make it in the final squad to the World Cup. There are many talented players here and everyone is putting in extra work''.

“I featured in only one game as a sub in Costa Rica and hopefully if I make it to this year’s World Cup, I’ll go and do well to leave a mark. I believe in this team to make it out of the group stage for the first time in our history. The technical team is doing their best and taking us through series of trainings’’.

“We urge Ghanaians to keep supporting us like they always do and we will continue to make them proud’’ Nyame added.

On Monday, September 2, the Black Princesses will play their first game against Austria. In the remaining group E matches, they will play Japan and New Zealand.

Columbia is set to host the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup from Saturday, August 31, to Sunday, September 22, 2024.

After competing in the World Cup in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022, the Black Princesses of Ghana will be attending for the seventh time in a row.
