Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential hopeful George Afriyie could possibly head to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after been disqualified from the upcoming 2023 elections.
The vetting committee has notified the former GFA vice president over the decision after failing to garner support to meet the requirement of Article 13(2)(j), which requires that an aspirant must obtain an amount of support from members of the association.
"Failure to provide the required number of Ghana Football Association members to support your candidature," read the statement released by the GFA election committee.
Afriyie has ample time to appeal, as he has been given three days to petition the decision, but it is glaring that he might take it a step further by challenging the case at CAS.
Kickgh.com understands that the bankroller of Susubiribi SC will head to the international body to seek redress in getting justice after his spokesperson, Akyereko Frimpong Manson granted an interview with Accra-based Asempa FA, confirming they're going to take legal action against the Ghana FA election committee.
"We will definitely take legal actions against the GFA Election committee for disqualifying George Afriyie from the GFA presidential race."
Kurt Okraku, who has been president of the GFA since 2019 will go unopposed as he will be the only aspirant to have successfully completed the vetting proceedings for the prestigious role.
