Deputy Sports Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Bobie Opoku, has admitted the task in the qualifiers was a very difficult one but strongly believes the Black Stars will triumph in Ivory Coast early next year.
Ghana finally booked their spot to the 2023 AFCON after beating Central African Republic by 2-1 last Thursday in their final game to finish as winners of Group E.
This marks Ghana's tenth consecutive qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations since 2006, with their last absence happening in 2004 when the tourney was held in Tunisia.
In interview with Akoma FM in Kumasi, the MP for Asunafo North Constituency said, Ghana really had it tough in the qualifiers series but strongly added with so much optimism that, the Black Stars will thrive in the next AFCON with good preparations.
"It was very difficult but at the end we managed to secure qualification. I believe the technical team will assess the team and make the necessary corrections going into next year's Afcon so we can have a formidable team."
"With Good preparations and rectifying some few technical mistakes in our team, I believe strongly that we can make a very good impact at AFCON 2023."
Ghana has been really poor for the past years in the Africa Cup of Nations, having suffered round 16 and group stage eviction in the previous two tournaments; 2019 in Egypt and 2021 in Cameroon respectively.
