Nations FC Chief Executive Officer Kennedy Boakye Ansah has appealed to the Black Stars technical team to take a fresh look at defender Razak Simpson as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Simpson last represented the national team in May 2025 during the Unity Cup third-place playoff, where he marked the occasion by scoring his first goal for Ghana against Trinidad and Tobago. Since then, he has continued to impress at club level with disciplined and consistent performances.
In an interview with Citi Sports, Ansah spoke highly of the centre-back’s attitude and dedication, insisting the player has proven he deserves another opportunity with the national team.
“Razak Simpson is a top player. He has shown tremendous commitment, discipline and the zeal to give his all for the nation’s cause and the national team,” he said.
The Nations FC boss also revealed that members of the Black Stars’ newly assembled technical team recently attended their league match against All Blacks, a visit he believes may have been partly to assess Simpson.
“Fortunately for us, last weekend, one of the newly appointed Black Stars coaches together with the team manager came to watch our game against All Blacks. I’m pretty sure Razak was one of the reasons they came — not only to watch him but also to assess some of the other talents we have,” Ansah added.
He further emphasized the defender’s qualities, describing him as a reliable and solid performer capable of competing at the highest level if given the chance to return to the national setup.
Meanwhile, Simpson remains a key figure for Nations FC as the club continues its push for success on multiple fronts. He is expected to play a crucial role as they chase progress in the MTN FA Cup quarterfinals while also maintaining their challenge in the Ghana Premier League in pursuit of a first major trophy.
