Bernhard Lippert, the Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has addressed the critics in Ghana who have expressed dissatisfaction with the decline of football in the country and the underperformance of the national teams, including the Black Stars.
During the launch of the National Football Philosophy, Lippert argued that it is important for Ghanaians to understand that many African countries have surpassed Ghana in football development. He suggested that Ghanaians tend to engage in excessive talk without backing it up with concrete action.
“I think we are talking too much as a people. In Africa, most of the countries are ahead of us and we think we are still a football powerhouse. We need to work hard,” Bernhard Lippert said.
He emphasized the significance of developing a distinct football identity and characteristics for Ghana. The launch of the National Football Philosophy is a result of extensive research conducted by the Technical Directorate, incorporating input from various stakeholders such as technocrats, past and present national and club coaches, administrators, players, referees, supporters, coach instructors, coach educators, politicians, traditional authorities, women in football, sports media personalities, and others.
“It’s very important for us to have characteristics, That’s why we tried to find out our DNA as Ghanaians. We need to have an identity,” Bernhard Lippert said on Wednesday during the launch of the National Football Philosophy.
The Ghana Football DNA will serve as the coaching and playing philosophy for Ghanaian football, providing a clear direction and identity for the sport in the country.
