Ghana boss Otto Addo insists he is not worried about the sack and says statistics are “of no use” as the Black Stars prepare for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali in Accra.
The 49-year-old has faced mounting scrutiny over his record since returning for a second spell in charge. In 15 games, Addo has overseen five wins, five draws and five defeats, with his side scoring 27 goals and conceding 18. The numbers translate to a win rate of just 33.3%.
But the Black Stars coach dismissed the criticism, stressing Ghana remain on course in Group I.
“These statistics of my wins and losses are of no use. I’m not afraid of anything, not even getting sacked. We are still on top of Group I, so nothing has changed,” Addo said.
Addo also warned his players that complacency cannot be tolerated in their push for qualification.
“Game by game, there will be no underrating of any team,” he added.
Ghana currently lead Group I with 15 points from six matches, three clear of Comoros and five ahead of Madagascar. Victory against Mali on Monday would edge them closer to a fifth World Cup appearance.
The Accra Sports Stadium is expected to be packed for what could prove to be a decisive night in Ghana’s qualifying campaign, with Addo insisting the focus remains solely on performance, not pressure.
Kick-off for the decisive clash is set for 7:00pm GMT.
