Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has candidly acknowledged that he has yet to showcase his best form for the Ghana national team and is committed to elevating his performances.
Semenyo, who netted the opening goal in Ghana's emphatic 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, expressed his determination to enhance his contributions on the field.
Reflecting on his journey with the national team, the Bournemouth striker admitted that while he has delivered some satisfactory performances, there remains significant room for improvement. He emphasized his desire to increase his goal tally and overall impact during matches.
"I definitely want more goals, for sure. Any player in an attacking position wants more goals," he said.
"I feel like I’ve had some decent performances, some not-so-great performances. But I’m humble—I know when I’ve played well, and I know when I haven’t."
Semenyo's recent goal against Chad marked his third for the Black Stars since his debut in 2022 and his first since scoring against Angola in March 2023. Despite this, he remains focused on achieving greater consistency and effectiveness in his play.
"I’d say my performances have been steady—just very average—but I know I can give more," he added. "I hope no one is judging me based on these 26 games, because there’s definitely more to come."
After ending his international goal drought, Semenyo will be eager to build on his latest performance when Ghana take on Madagascar on Monday, March 24.
With the Black Stars sitting atop Group I, another strong display could further boost their chances of securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
