Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan, remains optimistic about the current Black Stars team, convinced they have what it takes to deliver a result that will make Ghanaians proud in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Madagascar.
Gyan, who remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer, emphasized the need for the Black Stars to edge out their Monday night opponents and other Group I rivals as the four-time Afcon champions pushed for a spot in the global showpiece.
Ghana sit top in the group standings with twelve points, in contrast Madagascar are second with 10 points from four matches.
Gyan believes the Black Stars previous performances and recent consistency gives them a significant advantage.
“This is just the beginning; the most important thing is that we have the three points,” Gyan stated. “Our goal is to qualify for the World Cup. We take it game by game and see what happens.”
Gyan believes that maintaining concentration and consistency will be key. He stressed that beyond winning, the ultimate goal is to keep Ghanaians satisfied with the team’s progress.
“The most important thing is that Ghanaians are happy with the result, and we keep moving forward,” he added.
The Black Stars will be out tonight, Monday 24th March, to ensure they dish-out a strong performance against Madagascar's Barea at the Mimoun Al Arsi Stadium in AI Hoceima, Morocco. Kick-off for the game is 19:00 GMT.
