Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has pledged to do everything within his power to ensure the Black Stars secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars are under intense scrutiny following their historic failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in two decades that Ghana will miss the tournament.

The team finished bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches, sparking widespread disappointment.

However, with Ghana set to resume their World Cup qualifying campaign against Chad and Madagascar in March, Adams has vowed to provide full support to the team in their quest for a fifth World Cup appearance.

“Whatever I have to do as the Sports Minister to ensure Ghana qualifies for the 2026 World Cup, I will do it," the Buem MP told Asempa FM.

Adams acknowledged the frustration over the AFCON setback but stressed that the World Cup remains a top priority for the nation.

*"It is unfortunate that African countries will be at AFCON, and Ghana will not be present, but the World Cup is different, and I know the government is also committed to this goal.

“If the team has wronged anyone, I appeal for unity so we can all work together to ensure Ghana qualifies for the tournament," he added.

Ghana will host Chad on March 17 before traveling to face Madagascar on March 24 in two crucial fixtures that could define their qualification hopes.
