Kofi Iddie Adams, Ghana's Minister of Sports and Recreation has promised to do all he can to make sure the Black Stars Annex a sport at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The senior national team has faced a barrage of criticism after failing to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana bagged just three points from their six matches in Group F, which included Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
With the World Cup qualifiers set to resume in March, the Black Stars are second in Group I with nine points - Ghana will take on Chad and Madagascar.
However, Adams has vowed to do everything in his power in ensuring the four-time AFCON champions make it to the mundial.
“Whatever I will have to do as the Sports Minister to ensure that Ghana qualifies for the 2026 World Cup, I’ll do it,” he told Asempa FM.
He recognized the dissatisfaction of missing out on the continental showpiece but affirmed that the World Cup continues to be paramount.
“It is unfortunate that African countries will be meeting at AFCON, and Ghana will not be present, but the World Cup is different, and I know the government also has an interest in that.”
Adams also pleaded for solidarity, cohesion, and backing from Ghanaians as the team dive into a quest of securing qualification to the global showpiece.
“If the team has wronged anyone, I will appeal that we all unite for the good cause of the team and ensure that we qualify for the tournament.”
In the two decisive fixtures, Ghana will host Chad on March 17, before jetting out to square-it-out with Madagascar on March 24.
