The Black Stars have suffered a big blow before their friendly against South Korea, with defender Mohammed Salisu and Antoine Semenyo returning to their clubs due to injury. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the news on Monday, leaving head coach Otto Addo with a trimmed squad of nineteen players in Seoul.

Salisu, who's a key a cog in Ghana’s defensive setup, has been sidelined with a bilateral medial collateral ligament sprain, a diagnosis confirmed by both Monaco and the Black Stars’ medical team.

Semenyo, meanwhile, aggravated a left anterior talo-fibula ligament sprain during the high-intensity match against Japan and was substituted in the 55th minute for Prince Kwabena Adu.

Speaking on the challenges ahead, Addo remained resolute: “These are setbacks, but the squad we have is capable. We will adapt, and the players on the pitch will give everything.”

Despite the injuries, the remainder of the Black Stars players are training with renewed focus as they are determined to maintain team spirit and performance levels even with a reduced roster.

Salisu and Semenyo, meanwhile, have returned to their respective clubs to focus on recovery ahead of upcoming commitments.
