Former Ghana Football Association communications director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has urged calm amid growing pressure on Black Stars coach Otto Addo, insisting that demands for his dismissal are both premature and unhelpful.
The Black Stars boss, who returned to the Ghana hot seat on a three-year deal in March 2024, has come under pressure despite taking four points from September’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers – drawing 1-1 with Chad before stunning Mali 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Addo’s critics argue the team looks unconvincing, with Sports Minister Kofi Adams and former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu both questioning whether he’s the right man to take Ghana to the 2026 World Cup.
Sannie Daara, however, believes the rush to judgement ignores the bigger picture.
“Calling for Otto Addo’s sack now is too hasty,” he told Asempa FM.
“We should wait until the Black Stars’ World Cup qualification is decided.”
Addo’s tenure has already weathered turbulence, most notably Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Yet he has overseen crucial victories earlier in the qualification campaign and remains tasked with guiding the Black Stars through decisive fixtures against the Central African Republic and Comoros next month.
