Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has credited the country’s recent surge in sporting success to a series of deliberate reforms and targeted investments undertaken over the past months.

Speaking at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards on Saturday, Adams underlined the significance of strategic restructuring within the sector, moves he believes are now yielding visible and measurable progress.

“We made tough decisions, invested deliberately, and Ghana is now reaping the benefits,” he said.

The Buem MP pointed to several milestones that reflect Ghana’s improving fortunes on the international stage: the Black Stars’ qualification for the FIFA World Cup, the renaissance of the Black Queens, and the University for Development Studies’ landmark triumph at the Universities World Cup in China.

“Our athletes are excelling across disciplines, and Ghana has firmly established itself as a credible force in both African and global sports,” he added.

Adams stressed that the progress achieved is rooted in well-defined strategy, meticulous groundwork, and focused delivery. He appealed to stakeholders to remain steadfast in maintaining the pace of improvement.

“This performance is the result of policy, preparation, and discipline—not luck,” he stressed. “We must continue to work consistently; success favors persistence.”
