Black Stars head coach after the important win over Mali was queried about his system and whether he is going to maintain in subsequent games and he answered that it will depend on the opposition he will be coming up against.
Ghana came from behind to beat the Eagles of Mali by 1-2 at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako last Thursday night to secure their second win in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Kamory Doumbia opened the scoring account for the Malians just on the stroke of half time but two second half goals from Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew handed Ghana all three points after full time.
In a post-match presser, the experienced tactician has admitted the next game against CAR will be much more tougher on the back of yesterday's results and they will have to deliver on home soil regardless.
He furthered stated if he will maintain the three-back system he deployed yesterday, it will depend on the opposition he will be facing in subsequent matches.
"Every game has different demands. For this game, I chose this system but in the next game, maybe I will chose something else don’t know yet. So we will look firmly to see what we can do against Central African Republic. To be honest, it’s going to be tougher because now everybody expects us to win and it’s going to be difficult just like today."
"These games are on the edge. If you see all the games, they are all on the edge. Central African Republic picked a draw against Mali so we have to expect a very, very strong team against us."
"They won 1-0 yesterday so it’s very, very tight and it’s going to be difficult and like I said every game demands different option, different actions because Mali play different from Central African Republic. I can’t say I will play the same, maybe I will do so if I this will be the right thing but for now I don’t know."
The win has now sent Ghana to the second position on the Group I table with six points after three matches.
The four-time African champions will host Central African Republic in the next round of games on June 10, 2024.
